Cascades College and Career Academy, a Job Corps pilot program will be the topic of our November luncheon. Brian Hurst who has been with Job Corps for many years will be our featured speaker. The presentation will focus on how the new emphasis under Vice President Joe Biden's "Ready to Work" Initiative. Vice President Biden said President Obama "asked me to lead an across-the-board review of America?s job training programs to ensure they share a single mission: providing workers with the skills they need to secure good jobs that are ready to be filled." To that end, the Cascades Job Corps campus was selected to build a pilot program that could be emulated by other's across the country. This is an incredible opportunity for our community and Job Corps has partnered with Adams Associates, Inc., to manage the program. The Cascades Academy is a Pilot Project developed by the National Office of Job Corps to test and evaluate innovative models for Job Corps eligible youth. The focus is on academic and CTT training for 16 to 21 year olds.
The Cascades Academy will provide training in the Health Care and Information Technology Pathways. As a Pilot project, the Cascades Academy will test a number of pre-admissions procedures, new student intake processes based on industry cohorts and foundations courses, require mandatory Evening Studies program and take a slightly different approach to CTT progression. http://www.adamsaai.com/job-corps-locations/cascades-washington/
The Cascades Academy will partner with Sedro-Woolley Public Schools, the Northwest Career & Technical Academy and Skagit Valley College to provide Career and Technical Education which provide students with college credits, certifications and credentials.
